Floyd A. “Sonny” Bertoni

Floyd A. “Sonny” Bertoni, 61, of Springfield died at 3:04 pm, Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born February 7, 1959 in Springfield to Floyd J. and Jean (Stinnett) Bertoni. He married Remedios Sun on November 13, 1987.

He is survived by his wife Remedios; two sons, Gregory (Valerie) Bertoni of Bollingbrook, IL and Christopher (Amy) Bertoni of Louisville, KY; two grandchildren, Luna and Elliana Bertoni and two more on the way; two sisters, Julie (Doug) Galayda and Tammy (Dave) Couts, both of Springfield; brother, Kevin P. (Darlene) Bertoni, of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sonny was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed vintage Sci-Fi movies and was an avid Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan.

He worked for Sangamon County as a Control Room Operator.

Visitation: 10-11:30 am, Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Church.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Manuel Cuizon officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
