Everette R. Walshire, 87, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at the Mechanicsville Specialty Care Center. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, with Fr. Richard Okumu officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, Jan. 8, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, with military honors.
Everette was born April 19, 1935, to Edward “Ted” and Elsie Hudachek Walshire. He married Evelyn Pint on Sept. 7, 1974, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; son, Brian (Shannon) of Mechanicsville, grandchildren, Madelyn, Ella and Wyatt; several nephews; brother-in-law, Richard Pint of Independence; and sisters-in-law, Pat Buls of Hudson, Iowa, Marge Pint of Denver, Colo., and Maureen Pint of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise Poduska; and brothers, Lewis and Tom.
Everette had served his country in the U.S. Army, was a lifelong farmer, and in his earlier years showed quarter horses. He collected antique tractors, enjoyed woodworking, sports on TV, was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities. Everette was a member of the Mechanicsville American Legion, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus St. Mary’s.
