EVANS T. GEORGAS

August 2, 1939 – March 16, 2021

Evans T. Georgas passed away on March 16, 2021.  Loving husband of Angeline (Becky, nee Paxinos) for 53 years and extremely proud and loving father of Ted, Steve (Christina) (ret. CPD), Spiro (CPD) and DinaMaria (Raad) Eshoo.  He was the World’s Best Papou to Evan, Christopher, Nicholas, Maria, Alexander, Gavin, Cole, Billy, Anna and Allie and cherished that title second to only the title of faithful husband.  From rides to school to after school activities and hockey practice, he always made sure his grandkids were first and they nicknamed him their “PapoUber.”

Evans was born in Chicago to the late Theodore and Constantine Georgas and is the brother of the late Helen (Dr. William) Godellas, John, and Thomas (Linda).  He was a fond uncle to Dr. Dean Godellas, Basil Godellas, Mia Strickland, Georgeanne Ziegler, Steve Lazanas, Angelo Loumbas and Stephanie Natalie.

Our father was an amazing hard working man who would see the good in everyone and everything he encountered.   His infectious smile, funny and kind personality will always be remembered.  He always put everyone else first, and his close friends would tell you he would do anything, for anyone, at any time.  Whether it was driving for hours when his kids were at college to simply have breakfast or lunch or waiting outside the school two hours before dismissal to make sure he got the perfect spot to pick up his grandkids, he existed for his family.  All of his grandchildren loved to spend time with him just as much as he loved to spend time with them.

His wife was the greatest love of his life, soul mate and amazing partner of 53 years.  Dad was a northsider who grew up at Winnemac and Lincoln and Mom was a southsider who grew up in Roseland.  After returning from being overseas in the U.S. Army, they met and it was instant love.   They spent every day together for the last 53 years and built a family of love, trust and commitment.
