Ernest C. “Ernie” Grose

Ernest C. “Ernie” Grose, 88, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, in Hendersonville, NC.

He was born in Jacksonville, FL, a son of Ernest L. Grose and Kathleen M. Grose. After graduating from Landon High School and service in the United States Navy, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and made his career in Jacksonville, FL as an insurance agent with State Farm. In retirement in Hendersonville, NC, he was a frequent volunteer with the Master Gardeners of Henderson County and an avid pool player with the Blue Ridge American Poolplayers Association league.

Ernie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn W. Grose. He is survived by his sons, E. Charles Grose, Jr. of Greenwood, SC and Alan W. Grose of Washington, DC, his brothers, F.E. Grose (and wife Pee Wee) of Fort Pierce, FL and Fred Grose (and wife Florence) of Quincy, MA, his sisters-in-law, Beverly L. Wingate of Jacksonville, FL and Joyce W. Childre (and husband Bob) of Deland, FL, many nieces and nephews, and his good friend Marian Baer.

A Graveside service will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Hendersonville, NC on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Deborah Demorest officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the hospice at the Four Seasons Foundation (211 N. Main St., Hendersonville, NC 28702; fourseasonsfdn.teleioscn.org) or Bullington Gardens (95 Upper Red Oak Trail, Hendersonville, NC 28792; bullingtongardens.org).
