Emmaleen McInturff Maxwell

Emmaleen McInturff Maxwell, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth House Hospice in Hendersonville on January 28, 2022, at the age of 82 after a period of declining health. Her daughters Lynn and Kim were by her side.
She was born in Yancey County and grew up in Fletcher, NC. She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1957 and married Robert M. Maxwell that same year. They were married for 60 years until Robert’s death in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her mother Lucille Garren, father Otto McInturff, brother Roy Lee McInturff, and stepfather Ellard Garren.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Maxwell (Mark Wilson) and Kim Maxwell (K. M.); brother, Bobby Bruce Garren (Jackie); step siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
She worked for the Henderson County School system as a librarian at East Flat Rock Elementary, a kindergarten assistant at the same school and finally as a library assistant at East Henderson High School until her retirement.
Her family appreciates the care she received at Mission Hospital CCICU and the Elizabeth House Hospice care team and Davita Dialysis Center.
At her request no services are planned.
