Elizabeth “Liz” A. Whitney
Elizabeth “Liz” A. Whitney, age 85 of Sandwich, IL passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022. She was born on March 6, 1937 in Sycamore, IL the daughter of William and Dolores (Benson) Miller.
Liz was united in marriage on May 5, 1956 to John Whitney and spent 65 years happily together. She was a long time member of the 60th Street Baptist Church in Pinellas Park, FL. and had more recently been attending the Corner Stone Church in Sandwich, IL. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing. One of Liz’s favorite things to do was going on Sunday rides and a picnic with the family with no destination ever planned. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. After retirement she and John loved exploring the many parks and historical sites between Illinois and Florida. Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, niece and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Liz is survived by her husband, John Whitney of Sandwich, IL; her children, Damon (Wendy) Whitney of Fort White, FL; Kenneth (Kathy) Whitney of Polo, IL; Jodie (Gary) Frieders of Leland, IL; Vickie (Butch) Beyer of Sycamore, IL; her seven grandchildren; her 7 great grandchildren with two more soon to come; her brother, David (Janet) Miller of Carrollton, KY; her sister, Barbara Stone of Sycamore, IL; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dolores Miller; her sister and brother-in-law Rosalie and Thomas Brownfield; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Stone.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers donations will be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
