Elinor Lorene Foote, 90 yrs old, of Granbury went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2021. Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 17, 2021, First Presbyterian Church, Granbury. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until service time at the church with a reception following the service. A private graveside service for family will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Elinor will lie in state on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 12:00 Noon – 8:00 PM, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Granbury or to the Habitat for Humanity of Hood County in Elinor’s name. Elinor was born in Altoona, Kansas to Leonard and Myrtle Markham. When she was young she moved to Independence, Missouri for most of her schooling and at 17, she followed her father to Texas. It was in Fort Worth, she met and married Doug Foote on November 17, 1951. Elinor was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell; a job she relinquished to make a home for her husband and three children. She was an exceptional flower gardener. In December of 1970, she was awarded Yard of the Month by the community gardening club. Doug and Elinor moved from Fort Worth to Granbury when he retired. They were active volunteers at Meals on Wheels. After Doug’s passing, she continued helping others at Habitat for Humanity of Hood County. Workers looked forward to her pea salad and requested it often. She also enjoyed playing cards, bunko and Mexican Train with her friends. Elinor was often found with her trusty companion; her Bichon Frise, Beau. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Eula Carter and Bonnie Murphy. Elinor is survived by her daughter: Pam Foote-Jones, sons: Steve Foote with wife Pam, and Mike Foote with wife Joni, grandchildren: Amanda Ogletree with husband Ben, Aaron Jones, Lori Jones with husband Bryan, Kyle Jones, and Steve Dunker with wife Leigh Anne, and great-grandchildren: Savanna, Bear, Lily, Kaylee, Riley, Bryce, Zack, and Austin. Services under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home.
