July 14, 1927 – June 18, 2022Blue Springs, Missouri….Donnie Dean Neil, age 94, passed away on June 18, 2022, at his home in Blue Springs, Missouri.
He was born in rural Fairport, Missouri, on July 14, 1927, to Harry Edward and Elizabeth Bessie (Eggleston) Neil.
Donnie married Barbara (Stansch) on March 23, 1947, in Maysville, Missouri and to this union, a daughter was born.
Donnie served in the United States Army during World War II. He earned his Masters degree in Education and was a longtime educator. He was a teacher and administrator for the Blue Springs School District for many years. In 2010, he was inducted into the Northwest Missouri State hall of fame for his achievements in track and field.
He loved being outside; snow skiing, camping, and working out in his garden were a few of his favorite things. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Donnie is proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Max and Herschel; sister, Dorothy Ellis; great-granddaughter, Miley.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Barbara, of the home; daughter, Cynthia Walsh, grandson, Neil Walsh; five great-grandchildren, Riyder, Eayston, Jaxon, Stella, and Patsy; special family members, Jason and Jennifer Walsh (Dillon, Peyton, Tori, and Zachary), Scott and Tonya Walsh (Tyler and Lindsey); many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville on Thursday, June 23, 2022, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm and funeral starting at 3:00 pm. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Turner Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
