Donald M. Hawkins

Donald M. Hawkins, age 64 of Sycamore, IL passed away, due to complications from Covid-19, on Saturday, January 15, 2021 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born on November 22, 1957 in Harvey, IL the son of Mason R. and Floya (Trout) Hawkins.

Donald was united in marriage on September 27, 1980 to Lori Watson and they spent the next 41 years happily together. Mr. Hawkins was the Owner and Operator of Competitive Edge & Graphics and Epic Headwear in DeKalb, IL. He was a 1975 graduate of Waterman High School, Waterman, IL. Don received his Undergraduate from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and his Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University, in Mechanical Engineering, in DeKalb, IL. Mr. Hawkins was a member of several organizations, including Ducks Unlimited, DeKalb County Shrine Club, Moose Lodge of DeKalb, IL and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in his garden. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Lori Hawkins of Sycamore, IL; his son, Garret (Meghan) Hawkins and their children, Lillian and Hudson, all of Sycamore, IL; his daughter, Marley Hawkins of Boulder, CO; his siblings, Richard (Victoria) Hawkins of Jacksonville, FL and Floya Lynn Hawkins of Chana, IL; also several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Coronavirus there will be no service at this time. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Don’s family would like to thank both the Doctors and Nurses at Kishwaukee Hospital for the care that he received while struggling with this severe illness.
