Donald Alan Wake

Donald Alan Wake, 71 of Cantrall died on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his home. He was born October 28, 1949 in Springfield, to Walter and Jessie McEvoy Wake. He married Diane Jean Bokamp on August 23, 1969 and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Wake of Springfield, and Amy (Scott) Fisher of Chatham; two grandchildren, Liam and Riley Fisher; one sister, Patricia Thresher of Cadiz, KY; four brothers, Raymond (Sharon) Wake of Springfield, John (Debbie) Wake of Springfield, Jesse (Michelle) Wake of Cantrall and Thomas (Kathy) Wake of Allen, TX; half-brother, Randy Miller of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Wake and several half-siblings.

Donald was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a 1969 graduate of Springfield High School and an active member of Eastview Baptist Church.

He enjoyed coaching soccer; reading; working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and helping with small construction projects for his church and family.

He was a retired Union Commercial Carpenter having worked for Carpenters Local 270 and served as a trustee for Carpenters Local 16.

Family Hosted Graveside Service: 1 pm, Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the US Army.
