Diana was born on June 14, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert William and Beverley Rose (Borelli) Dolphin. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Regis High School in 1985, and earned her Therapeutic Recreation degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Diana met her husband Don in physics class in college where she decided to sit next to the “smart” kid and cheat off of him. They were married 4 years later on October 3, 1992. She eventually moved back to Cedar Rapids after 3 years in Berwyn, Illinois where she continued to work in the mental health field at St. Luke’s Adolescent Psych Unit and Adolescent Life Program for 12 years. In 2002 she pursued a career change into insurance, initially working at American National before moving to work at Bouslog Insurance.

Diana was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She cherished the time she had with her family and welcomed two beautiful grandchildren into the world. Diana was a mother to more than just her two children and could always be found supporting the kids. She loved to be on the sidelines of a girls’ soccer game; in the stands watching baseball, football, and marching band; being a scout leader delivering carloads of cookies and popcorn; and not to mention holding a 1,325-day snap streak with her daughter Marie. She was a UNI Panther at heart, where she met the love of her life, but could also tailgate with the best of them at Kinnick. She also loved cheering on the Iowa Women at Carver. Diana was an avid hiker and loved running the local 5Ks, but also “tolerated” fishing. She loved spending time at Lake Macbride walking the trails, pedaling from bar to bar and occasionally crossing parts of Iowa during RAGBRAI. She enjoyed visiting 18 National Parks, always planning the next adventure on the drive home from the current vacation. Camping excursions in the silver bullet were some of her favorite memories with Don and the kids.

Diana is survived by her husband, Don; her children Patrick O’Connell (Lindsey) Maston and Marie Rose Maston; her grandchildren Morgan and Harper Maston; her mother Beverley Dolphin; brother Danny (Julie) Dolphin; sisters Pamela Dolphin and Mary Coppess; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Diana is preceded in death by her father.

Memorials may be directed to the Diana Maston Fund to provide for a tribute to be placed in the local park.
