Diana Ellen Mizer

Diana Ellen Mizer, age 72, of New Philadelphia died early Sunday, March 28, 2021, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House. Diana had a period of declining health which included two strokes.

Born on May 31, 1948, in Coshocton, Diana was a daughter of the late Robert S. and Irma Mains Parks. She was a 1967 graduate of Ridgewood High School and in her younger years was known for her love of dancing, singing and performing.

On March 16, 1970, she married the love of her life, Joseph C. “Joe” Mizer. The couple raised a daughter and shared in many family activities together. They were cast as extras in the mini-series, “Centennial”, part of which was filmed at Roscoe Village, where Diana had volunteered her time for a number of years. She also spent time traveling with her family to various car shows and caring for her cats and dogs. She was a true animal lover who enjoyed reading and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a good hot fudge sundae.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Carla, of the home; a sister, Carol (Del) Croskey of DeGraff, Ohio; two brothers, Robert L. Parks of Idaho and David (Sondra) Parks of California as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Misty, Panda and Grey Cat.

The family will greet guests on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from Noon to 1:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Bob Linsz will lead a service celebrating Diana’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Salem Evan Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Diana’s name may be made to any local charity of the donor’s choice.
