Diana “Dee” McMillen

Diana “Dee” McMillen, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, while in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia following a brief illness.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on September 18, 1946, Dee was a daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie Wilson Thomas.

She was a 1965 graduate of New Philadelphia High school and completed her formal education at Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Education. For many years Dee was an elementary school teacher at Sacred Heart School and was an active volunteer with the Friends of the Library and Schoenbrunn Village. She also enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her long-time friends and attending any activity in which her grandchildren were involved.

Dee will be missed by her children, Lori Schreiner of Dover, and Mike (Amanda) McMillen of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Adam and Haley Schreiner, Hannah (Brandon) Sommers, Brooke, Braden, and Abigail McMillen; a great-grandson, Connor Sommers; a niece and a nephew, Shannon and Darby McMillen and her cousin, Margie (Jim) Gribble.

In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McMillen.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Rich VanArsdalen will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel on Sunday at 4:00 PM. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
