Dian J. Hoffee, 82, of Springfield, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, passed away on July 9, 2021.
Dian, the daughter of Lowell and Wilma Johnson of Fairfield, Illinois, was born July 22, 1938. Dian, the former Miss Fairfield, married Fairfield native Carl Hoffee, on December 27, 1959, in Fairfield.
Dian and Carl moved to Springfield after they were married, and raised their family. Dian pursued careers as a teacher and realtor, while Carl practiced law for over 50 years. Dian often volunteered at school and church. Dian and Carl enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, and time together with family and friends. Dian was a long-time member of the Junior League, King’s Daughter, PEO, the Springfield Art Association, and the Ceramics and Crafts Club. Dian and Carl were members of First United Methodist Church in Springfield, Illini Country Club and the Sangamo Club. Dian enjoyed cooking, especially pies and cakes. Dian was kind and graceful, and appreciated all the beauty in people, places and things. Dian was preceded in death by Carl on June 5, 2015.
Dian and Carl will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by their family. Dian is survived by her three daughters, Beth (Kurt) Wilke, Susan (Jeff) Hunt, and Pam (Tim) Rigby, all of Springfield. Dian is also survived by eight grandchildren – Brian (Laney) and Kate Wilke, Carly, Laura and Ethan Hunt, and James, Jessica and Anna Rigby, as well as two great-grandchildren, Cora and Bennett Wilke. Dian is survived by her brother, Greg (Kim) Johnson, of Decatur, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
On Sunday, July 18, the family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. Fifth St., Springfield. Brother Gary Carter of Fairfield will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
