Dennis Bayne, 76, died Sunday, February 4, 2024 at his home following a sudden illness.

Friends may call from 4 until 7 Thursday evening, February 8, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, A Remembrance service will be held 11:00 Friday morning at the Goettsch Funeral Home. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving are his wife Sandra, 2 children, Karmen (Ed) Hershey, Joe (Michelle) Bayne, 8 grandchildren Kellie, Kaitlin, Kacie, Cavan, Nate, Adrienne, Brianna and Madi, 3 great-grandchildren and another one on the way. He was preceded by his parents, a son Timothy, his brother Joe and 3 sisters, Patricia, Janice and Judy, and a sister-in-law, Karen.

Dennis Larry Bayne was born February 22, 1947 at Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Ralph and Wilma Marshall, Bayne. Dennis graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1965. He married Sandra Ellison on July 10,1965. Dennis worked as a press operator at the Monticello Express. Dennis had a love of cooking. He made total a career change, attending the Culinary School at Kirkwood. He was a chef at Cottage Grove for a short time. He moved to Camp Courageous and was the chef and head of the Dietary Department for 12 years. In retirement he worked at the Eastern Iowa Airport and CRST as a scale technician. Dennis was on the original ambulance board in Monticello. He was an EMT for the ambulance service as well.

He enjoyed cooking, traveling with Sandra, and especially time spent with his family.
