Denise Luzzi Harsem Alexander

It is with profound sadness that the family of Denise Luzzi Harsem Alexander, 68 years young, of Hendersonville, share that she has gotten her wings on May 3rd after a 4 year struggle with 4th stage non-small cell lung cancer. Throughout these last 4 years she never complained, she was brave, courageous and faced all the challenges of cancer with grace and dignity.
Denise was the widow of Kjell Harsem, the father of her sons Jason and Magnus Harsem. She was also preceded in death by her 2nd husband John Alexander in 2012. She and John were the owners of The Fitness Club of Laurel Park.
Denise was a volunteer at Pardee Hospital and the Hendersonville Visitors Center until covid arrived and changed everything! She was also part of the Live Strong group at the Y. She taught swimming to children at the Y, and chair yoga at her fitness club.
Denise was an avid hiker, bicyclist, kayaker and swimmer, she loved to dance and listen to music. She loved nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Mildred Luzzi, and is survived by her 4 siblings. Donna Luzzi (Raymond Kielt) of Va. Bch. VA., Glenn Luzzi (Carol) of PA. Her sister Karen Luzzi of FL,.and her youngest sister Vanessa Petrozzino (Michael) of SC.
The loves of her life, sons Jason Harsem (Amanda) of TN. And her youngest son Magnus Harsem (Wuyun) of WA., and 4 beautiful grandchildren that she adored.
She is survived by family from the Luzzi,,Harsem and Alexander families.
Many thanks go to Dr. Navin Anthony and his wonderful staff at Pardee UNC Health Care. Thanks also go out to her friends, Carol, Eleanor, Kris, Ronnie, Marilyn, Ed, Hugh and Leigh, who drove her to appointments and just kept a watchful eye over her throughout the ups and downs of this terrible disease. Thanks also go out to Rhonda, Laura & Bill who mowed her lawn and offered their help at any time. My profound thanks to each of you for the care and kindness you gave to this amazing soul! Denise never complained and asking for help was very difficult for her. So again, thank you to all of you, for your kindness and care.
Denise touched so many lives with her laughter, her sweetness and her bright light. Heaven has gained an amazing Angel that will be missed by so many here on earth.
