Delores R. Murphy

Delores R. Murphy, 92, formerly of Springfield passed away on October 22, 2021, in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in Springfield on April 9, 1929, as the elder daughter of Edward F. and Irene M. (Franz) Black. Delores “Dee” was a graduate of Lanphier High School and was married to her high school sweetheart Robert “Bob” L. Murphy for 65 years until his passing in 2015. Mr. Murphy was the founder and former owner of local company F. J. Murphy & Son, Inc. Dee and Bob had a second home in Key Colony Beach, Florida Keys since 1972 where they resided full time for over 30 years. Dee was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed NASCAR, sewing, arts and crafts, and especially china painting. She did extraordinary world-class beadwork design and execution for over 20 years until her eyesight began to fail. Dee had many different hobbies including her love of bridge playing which she faithfully followed in Springfield and Key Colony Beach, making many friends in the process. Delores was a former member of both Cathedral Church of St. Paul and Island Bay Yacht Club in Springfield, and a member of Marathon Yacht Club in Marathon, FL. Throughout their long marriage, Dee and Bob enjoyed traveling and visiting most of the world. With their private boat they cruised to the Bahamas nearly every year as well as motoring it from Florida to Cuba, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. In addition to her parents and her husband, Delores was pre-deceased by a sister Carol A. Black Downing. She is survived by a daughter Pam Pasko (John) of Jacksonville, FL, grandson Michael R. (Victoria) Pasko, and very special lifelong Springfield friends Kay, Fran, and Ura. Private services will be held at Cathedral Church of St. Paul with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
