Dean L. Cook

Dean L. Cook, 79, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Embassy of Winchester. He was born in Mansfield on July 14, 1942 to the late Howard and Frances (Kohler) Cook.

Dean was a 1960 graduate of Madison High School. He was hardworking and loved anything to do with agriculture. Dean owned and operated his own dairy farm, Clearview Farms and enjoyed his work. He previously worked for Empire Detroit Steel and during school, worked for Islay’s Dairy. He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and the Cleveland Browns. Dean was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and American Farm Bureau Federation. He was also on the Board of Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Dean is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jan (Hershey) Cook whom he married on December 8, 1962; sons, Brian Cook and Bruce (Sue) Cook; five grandchildren, Tyler (Nicole) Cook, Sarah (Tanner) Neel, Dylan Runion, Nicole Cook and Allyson Cook; two sisters, Joyce Pashelich and Carol (Dave) Groff; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sharon (Ron) Vandine; and brother-in-law, Ron (Betty) Hershey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brad “Albert” Cook, brother-in-law, John Pashelich; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Jean and Calvin Steward; parent-in-laws, Gerald and Ruby (Shadel) Hershey; and his dogs, Chad and Maggie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, October 29, 2021 with Pastor Eric Steward officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Richland Newhope or Mifflin Twp. Fire Department.
