Dawn Rita Miller

Dawn Rita Miller, age 86, formerly of Strasburg, died early Tuesday, July 26, 2022, while in the care of Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia on April 6, 1936, Dawn was a daughter of the late William G. and Anna E. Schweitzer Murphy.

Dawn retired in 1974 from Miller Studio where she had worked as a hand decorator. She was a longtime member of the Dover First Moravian Church and was actively involved with T.O.P.S. and K.O.P.S. for many years. Dawn also enjoyed playing cards, and was proud of the fact that she was a published poet. She also was known for reciting poetry and her online poetry reviews.

Dawn leaves behind her two children, John (Kim) Miller of North Canton, Cinda (John) Pixler of New Philadelphia, her grandchildren, Shannon Wolfe, Shawn (Nellie Putnam) Miller, Scott (Stacy) Miller, and Todd Parsons, and great-grandchildren, Lilly Wolfe, Matt Miller, Hayden Miller and Sydney Miller.

In addition to her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John D. Miller whom she married on August 28, 1962, and preceded her in death on August 15, 2015; her sisters, Glenna J. Love and Boots Didigner, and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Grace Wolfe.

The family will greet guests on Friday, July 29, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor John Wallace will lead a celebration of Dawn’s life at 11:00 AM. A meal and fellowship will follow the service in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Funeral Center. Private burial will take place in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover at a later date.
