David F. Scott, 77, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Hallmar on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, following a long illness.

David Frederick Scott was born April 18, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Harold and Esther (Goodale) Scott. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines in 1963. David then served in the U.S. Army in the Canal Zone in Panama during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. He then attended and graduated from the University of Iowa where he played in the Marching Band and was Drum Major his last two years. He worked as an I.T. Engineer for Rockwell-Collins for over 30 years. David was a 40-plus-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, enjoyed music, traveling and spending his winters in Arizona the last six years. His most favorite times were attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; stepchildren, Tammy (Kevin Duckworth) White and Brian (Debbie) White; grandchildren, Tracinda, BJ, Max and Calvin; a great-grandson, Jahmel; brother, John (Jackie) Scott and nephew, Spencer; children, Eric (Tracy) Scott and their sons, Owen, Andrew and Alex, Lorie (David) Brown and Kevin Scott; and many cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Interment with military rites will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Serenity.
