David E. Smith

David E. Smith, 74, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1947, in Jacksonville, IL, to Donald E. and Elizabeth Jean (Mathew) Smith and they preceded him in death. He married Joan M. Stevenson in February of 1997 and she survives.

He is also survived by one brother, Gary Smith of Virginia, IL.

One of David’s greatest joys was riding in his jon boat. He retired as manager from Brandt Fertilizer in Pleasant Plains, after many years of service. David was a United States Army veteran.

Visitation: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, May 16, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, May 16, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Mike Harney officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
