Dauna Roberts Donato

Dauna Roberts Donato, 87 passed away on August 28, 2021.  Born in Columbus, OH to Evan R. Roberts and Evelyn O. Roberts, the family settled in Coral Gables, FL where she attended Coral Gables High School and graduated from University of Miami with a B. A. in Home Economics. She began her career as a buyer for Burdines Department Stores of FL and then obtained her B. A. from Florida International University in Dietetics and Nutrition. She worked for University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and later at Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL for Diabetes Treatment Centers of America. She continued her studies towards a masters degree in Public Health at Florida International University.

She was a member of St Faith’s Episcopal Church in Perrine FL for over 30 years and more recently was actively involved at St James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, NC where she lived for over 15 years.

Retiring to Hendersonville, NC, she volunteered as a guardian ad litem for Henderson county, enjoyed book clubs, reading, traveling, and had an unconditional love for dogs.

Throughout her life and career she was part of numerous organizations such as Delta Gamma Sorority, American Dietetic Assoc., American Assoc. of Diabetes Educators, and Zonta International.

She is survived by her family that will miss her strength and determination, sons Robert J Donato of Little Elm TX, Andrew C Donato (Kimberly) of Tallahassee FL, daughter Marisa D Reece (Matthew) of Duncan SC, brothers Dr. Fred Roberts of Kansas City KS, Richard Roberts of Hobe Sound FL, and grandson Christopher L Donato of Jacksonville FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Blue Ridge Humane Society of Hendersonville NC.   The family would like to extend deep gratitude to the medical staff at The Bridge at Lakepoint Landing for their exceptional caregiving over the last three years and the care team at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House for their comfort and loving care.
