Daniel Richard Lord

Cedar Rapids

Daniel Richard Lord, 68, left the chains of this world behind and became perfectly restored in God’s perfect time on Feb. 10, 2023, while being cared for at Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. He lived a humble, faithful life accepting Christ as his Savior and Redeemer at an early age, growing in stature and wisdom as a strong man of God.

Daniel was born in Minneapolis, Minn., and raised in Richfield, Minn., by his parents, Robert and Evelyn, with three brothers, Robert, David and Richard (Diane).

He spent his youth playing baseball; after two State Championships he followed his passion to Northwestern Bible College pitching for four years and achieving the honor of National Small College All-American.

Daniel met his wife, Debra (Stateler), at Northwestern and married her at Cedar Valley Bible Church in Cedar Rapids. Daniel spent the majority of his career as a mechanical engineer at Norand/Intermec/Honeywell. He loved, supported and led his wife as well as his children, Zachary (Hessica) and Julianne (Brit) Wilson with quiet wisdom. Daniel became a sports dad and coach, an adult Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder, school board member, Awana Leader, and beloved granddad to Jazmyn and Gideon Wilson and Decklyn Lord.

Atypical Parkinsonism robbed Daniel of his physical body, but his heart remained strong, serving the Lord and loving others. A heartfelt thank you to his healthcare team, Dr. Philly Wall, Dr. DeAnn Fitzgerald, and Dr. John Wollner. A thank you to Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon, especially Carrie, Rebecca, Tiara, Breanna, Kendie and Alice in addition to Compassus Hospice staff. Thank you to his Cedar Valley family; especially Rox, Joel and Aaron, as well as his Northwestern friends Wesper, Plow and Yount.

Dan lived his life by Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The Iowa Deeded Body Program received Daniel through Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.

A time to remember Dan will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Cedar Valley Bible Church. A light brunch of Dan’s favorite, pancakes, will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lord family.

Please share your support and memories with Daniel’s family on his Tribute Wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
