Curtis “Curt” Baily

Springville

On March 2, 2023, Curtis “Curt” Baily was united with his Lord after a short illness.

Curt was born Dec. 1, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Darlyce (Port) Baily. He was a lifelong resident of the Springville/Central City area, graduating from Springville High School in 1980. Curt worked in construction, on the family farm, and as caretaker for Camp Hitaga. Curt sought simplicity in life over the pursuit of wealth. He was independent and self-sufficient, yet always willing to stop everything, anytime, to help family, friends, neighbors or strangers.

Curt always looked for ways to create, build or better things, from restoring and repairing cars and farm equipment, designing and building tools and machines, to creating landscape paintings. Curt loved to fish! He enjoyed sharing his thoughts and stories, which could make us all laugh, and the heartiest laugh was usually his own. Curt knew Christ as his Savior and Lord and walked with Him. He saw his talents as a gift to be used to minister to others. His final ministry was to donate through the Iowa Donor Network.

He is survived by his father, Edward; a brother, Gene, (Brenda); two sisters, Marcia (Russ) Hughes and Brenda (Brad) Van Horn; seven nieces and nephews; a great-niece; and three great-nephews.

Curt was reunited in death with his mother.

He will be deeply missed. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. His family encourages you to consider organ donation. Memorials will be gifted to the Iowa Donor Network, or you may contribute, or add yourself to the donor registry online in Curt’s memory at iowadonornetwork.org.
