Courtney C. Strang passed away suddenly on January 13, 2021 after a brief illness following a stroke she suffered on January 6. She was 89 years old on January 1, 2021. She was a resident of the First Colony area of James City County for 28 years. CoCo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. For over 68 years she was an adoring wife, loyal companion and the best friend of her husband Robert Strang.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Clague, and her father Stanley Clague of Highland Park, IL and her brother Kenyon Clague, Eureka, CA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three loving sons, Douglas Strang, Carlsbad, CA, William Strang, Scottsdale, AZ, and Stuart Strang and his wife Becky Orr, Olney, MD. CoCo was blessed to have enjoyed 8 grandchildren and their 5 great grand children.
Among her several activities, she was a co-founder and active member of the Historic Triangle Herb Society. She also was an active member in the James City County Master Gardener Association where she was awarded Member Emeritus status for her many contributions .She was a lifelong accomplished cook who enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. Reading was among her many other interests. Prior to coming to Williamsburg, CoCo’s occupation was Activities Director/Social Worker at a large nursing home in Rockville, MD. She proved to be an inspiration to both the residents and the staff.
Her family is planning a celebration of her life this summer at one of her favorite places, Corolla, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
