Clyde Grady Williams

Clyde Grady Williams, 94, of Hendersonville, died Monday, April 26, 2021.  He was a life-long resident of Henderson County, born August 1, 1926 to the late Horace Joseph Williams and Edith Cagle.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Jean Whiteside Williams.

Clyde is survived by his son, Donald Williams (Gail) of Lady Lake, FL; his daughters, Sandra Kay Williams and Donna Sue Wilson of Hendersonville; his brothers, Floyd V. Williams (Annette) and Robert M. Williams (June) of Hendersonville; a sister, Lois V. Hill (Douglas-deceased) of Edneyville; a sister-in-law, Estelle Whiteside of Mills River; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Dana High School in 1944.  Clyde served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in Germany.  He was drafted soon after his 18th birthday, trained at Camp Blanding, FL and was with the 3rd Army in Griez, Germany when the war ended. After the military, Clyde worked for Ecusta and retired in December 1982.

Clyde and Jean traveled all over the US in their travel trailer and after retiring spent 24 winters in Florida.  He was an avid pocket watch collector.  They made friends everywhere they went, and will be missed by his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
