Clare Cruz

Clare Cruz

Clare Cruz, age 53, passed away on December 27, 2020, due to multiple medical issues that she battled during the past 15+ years.  She is the devoted and loving mother of Angelia Tomenbang.  Loving partner to Mario Tomenbang.  Beloved daughter of Dr. Josefina Caling-Cruz and the late Pastor Roger Cruz.  Dear sister of Christina Cruz, Jude Cruz, and the late Pauline Cruz.  Adored and cherished aunt to Brielle and Jordan.  Loving aunt to Bethany Cruz-Kaskeski (We thank the Lord that Clare was able to attend Bethany’s wedding in October 2020).  Dear niece to the deceased Carolina Cruz “Auntie Lina” and deceased Leticia Cruz “Auntie Teng-Teng”.  She is loved by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins in various parts of the world.  She is also loved and cherished by the members of the Charismatic Christian Center, International Church.

Clare was a kind soul described by many as sweet and loving.  One would never know that she was angry or that something was wrong.  She loved to talk with everyone, always had a sweet smile, and made the time to sit down with you and just chat.  She was always interested in how someone “was doing”.  Clare was funny and quirky, making people laugh with her weird sense of humor.  Even when she was not feeling well, her sense of humor never wavered.  She always had a hug for someone whether they needed it or not.  She would have given the shirt off her back to help someone.

An adventurous foodie, Clare loved dining out with family and friends and asking them fun questions such as “What would you eat right now if you could eat anything?”.  She enjoyed talking about what type of restaurants she would like to go to or what type of restaurants there should be.  Another favorite topic for Clare was “What would you rather have…this or that?”.  In later years, eating and drinking became a struggle for her, due to food and fluid restrictions.  She made up for not being able to eat or drink what she wanted by talking about food and drinks!

Clare was over the moon when she discovered that she was pregnant with Angelia.  Though the pregnancy presented its own set of problems, medical issues both for her and Angelia, Clare was absolutely ecstatic with anticipation!  After Angelia’s birth, Clare poured out her life and love for the care of Angelia, and was there for her during numerous hospital stays, which included 2 kidney transplants, medical appointments, and hemodialysis three times a week.  In the last few years as her health deteriorated, Clare relied on help from others for herself and Angelia, and lamented not being there for Angelia full time.  Clare remained by Angelia’s side however physically challenging it was for her.  “Angelia is my life,” Clare said.
