Clair “Buzz” Clark, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes there will be no service.

Buzz, AKA “Papa,” was born in September of 1940 in State Center, Iowa, the son of Deloss and Vivian Clark. He moved to Marion as a young boy. He graduated from Marion High School in 1958 and spent four years in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Military Policeman. Upon discharge he joined the Cedar Rapids Fire Department where he spent 13 years and was one of the first EMTs in the state. He was later self-employed. In March of 1963 he married LaVonne Harang and to this union were born two children. LaVonne passed away tragically in 1970. In June of 1973 he married Ann Bibby, and they shared 52 wonderful years together, and her family became his family.

Buzz loved fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota and golf outings with his buddies. He had an incredible loving heart and had an extremely soft spot for all animals, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Buzz adored his grandchildren, teasing them every time they left to “Not take any wooden nickels.” He was blessed to have met and spent time with his great-grandson, and his one last wish was to be there when Daniel hit the golf course for the first time.

Buzz is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Christopher (Courtenay) Clark, and Jennifer (Wade) Markley; grandchildren, Heather (Timothy) Draeger, and Amber Markley; great-grandson, Daniel Draeger; brother, Mark Clark; many in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved dog, Odie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVonne; and brother, John Clark.

Buzz would love if you so wished that any donations in his memory would be sent to an animal rescue of your choice or St. Jude’s Hospital for children with cancer.

Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
