Charles “Chuck” Svoboda, 68, of Mechanicsville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Whitey’s, Lisbon Iowa. Private burial services will be held at a later day.
Chuck was born Feb. 5, 1954, to Glen and Arlene Svoboda. He graduated in 1972 from Lincoln Community Schools, Stanwood. He went on to Kirkwood Community College, where he graduated from the Auto Restoration Program. He married Colleen Johnson on June 17, 1983.
Chuck worked at Auto Restoration before joining his father in farming. He drove truck at Gilchrest Lumber and later at Wausau Lumber. Chuck enjoyed watching NASCAR races and tinkering around his garage. Chuck loved his two dogs, bowling, fishing, camping, family vacations and cruising. He was comfortable doing his own thing, working around the house and yard, and his sweet corn patch.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Colleen, and her children, Kellie (Tom) Steffenson, Vance (Michele) Zimmer and Justin (Laura) Mullan; along with 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Arlene Svoboda; son, Mitch Mullan; sister, Inis Huffman; brother-in-law, Rudy Huffman; niece, Kimberly (Huffman) Potter; and great-grandson, Sterling McFerren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established or feel free to donate to the charity of your choice.
