Carolyn Lorraine (Zahn) Erickson passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, in Wausau, WI, at the age of 75.

Carolyn was born on June 30, 1948, in Waukesha, WI, to Edwin and Carol (Knutson) Zahn. She married her husband, Ronald Erickson, July 20, 1974, at Nathaniel Lutheran Church, Bruce, WI.

She was known for her generous and social nature.

Carolyn grew up in rural Exeland, WI, where she attended North Star Country School followed by Exeland Grade School. After graduation from Bruce High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior to get her teaching degree. She worked as a dedicated first-grade teacher, primarily in Exeland and Bruce, WI leaving a lasting impact on her students throughout her career.

Outside of work, Carolyn had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved all holidays, was a baked-good connoisseur, supporter of the arts, had a passion for antiques, enjoyed traveling and had a great appreciation for good food and good company.

Carolyn is survived by her brother, Bob (Laurie) of Champlin, Minn., and her sisters, Dr. Arleen Zahn-Houser (James Houser) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Donna Weber of Ladysmith. She is further survived by nieces and nephews: Melissa, David and Nicole Weber, Emily (Ryan) Boylen, Amy (Sean) Roberts, Brooke Houser (Mohsen Ahmadian), Scott and Brent Houser; and her grand-niece and -nephew, Louella and Atticus Boylen, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barb Zahn; niece, Leslie Zahn; husband, Ronald Erickson and brother-in-law, Ben Weber.

A service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, at Nathaniel Lutheran Church in Bruce, WI. Visitation will take place from noon-1 p.m. with a service at 1 p.m. followed by a reception. She will be laid to rest at 4 p.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith, WI.

Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to education, and the love she shared with her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
