Carol Merchant

Carol Merchant, age 68, of Somonauk, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. She was born on November 3, 1953 in Oak Park, IL. Carol was the daughter of Paul and Alice (Kempski) DiCostanzo.

Carol was united in marriage to Richard Merchant and they spent many happy years together until his passing in 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Sherida (David) Phillips of Boaz, KY, Guy Kolar of Sandwich, IL, and Samantha (Robert) Vardell of Aurora, IL; her 11 grandchildren; her brothers, John DiCostanzo of South Beloit, IL and Richard (Gina) DiCostanzo of Beloit, WI; her sisters, Paula (Tom) Grimm of Earlville, IL and Barbara Vorbau of Yorkville, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Alice DiCostanzo; and her husband, Richard Merchant.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL.

Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
