Carlene Puckhaber Smallwood, 84, of Brush, Colorado, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024. Per her request, Carlene was cremated. Services will be held at a later date.

Carlene was born to Carl and Dorothy Puckhaber in Knoxville, Iowa on September 2, 1939, She was an only child. She graduated from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids in 1947. She graduated from Young’s School of Beauty and was a beautician in Cedar Rapids for many years. She moved to Colorado in 1974. She was married several times but finally found the love of her life, Howard Smallwood.

She was a lover of animals and left behind her beloved dog, Prancer. Carlene was very artistic and taught art classes for many years and was also a florist. She moved to Colorado to be near the Rocky Mountains. She will be missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Herman Carl (Buddy) Puckhaber and Dorothy Hodges Puckhaber; her husband, Howard Smallwood, and daughter Jamie Abazaris.

She is survived by her children, Kelly Yeisley (wife Eileen) of Marion, Iowa, and Candy Wuchter (husband, Ed) of Wiggins, Colorado; grandchildren Amber Wuchter, Taylor Abazaris, Andrew and Conor Yeisley, and Stormie Walker; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, where Carlene worked for many years.
