Bryon Close, 54, of Springville, formerly of Hale, IA, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Bryon Duane Close was born on November 27, 1970, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Richard and Kathy (Petersen) Close. He attended the Olin Consolidated School System. He was employed in the shipping and receiving department at Frontier, and did small engine repair work, which he did for the last ten years full time. In May of 2000 he was united in marriage to Crystee Pritchard. The couple would later divorce.

Bryon, known for loving to do things with his hands, could repair any and all things mechanical or electrical. He liked to work on all types of cars. He also worked with his mother at Image Dental Studio. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and cooking, especially making chili, salsa, and smoking various meats.

He is survived by his children Brandon Close, Emma Close, and Sarah Close, his grandson Maverick Close, his mother Kathy Close, a brother Heath (Shelley) Close, as well as by aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his father and grandparents.
