Bruce Wayne Grady, 76 of Fairfield, passed away on June 28, 2024. He was born on December 2, 1947, to loving parents, Wayne and Grace Grady, Bruce grew up playing outdoors, riding bikes, playing ball, and enjoying nature. He excelled in swimming at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids where he graduated in 1966. Bruce graduated from the University of Iowa in 1970 and spent some time in the Peace Corps in India. He was involved in many local community service projects as well as helping to launch very successful birthing services in Indonesia. He was a good friend and early advocate and evangelist for Robin Lim, “midwife and founder of Yayasan Bumi Sehat health clinics, which offer free prenatal care, birthing services, and medical aid to anyone who needs it.”

He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help others. Most of the rest of his life he worked as a caregiver in Fairfield, Iowa.

He is survived by his sisters Eleanor (Warren A Nicholas) of Grayslake, Illinois, and Marilyn (Terry Moe) of Cedar Rapids, three nieces, Jennifer Forsman of Grayslake, Illinois, Michele McClannahan of Mableton, Georgia and Tracy Taylor of Arlington, Tennessee, a nephew, Shannon Moe of Ames, and many loving cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Lee, and a niece Janele Roling.

Bruce loved Fairfield and everyone in it. His smile and laugh will live in our hearts always. Memorials in Bruce’s honor to Fairfield Care Inc. may be mailed to the family, 1316 Brendel Hill Dr. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
