Brian “Butch” Kramer, 82, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. There will be no service per Butch’s wishes. The family will host a Celebration of Life on June 3, 2024, 3 – 7 p.m. at the Center Point Community Center (below the library) at 720 Main St. All family and friends are invited to gather and share “Butch” stories. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, assisted the family.

He was born May 16, 1941, the third child of Alice (Wilford) and Lawrence Kramer near Urbana, Iowa. Butch graduated from Urbana High School in 1959, and soon after enlisted in the United States Marine Cops serving for four years. After returning home he was employed by Collins Radio Company, Cedar Rapids Gazette and Rockwell Collins. He retired from Rockwell in 1998 and worked part-time at the Rolling Acres Golf Course in Center Point. He was a member of the Center Point American Legion and supported several veteran charities.

In 1966, he married Susan Kramer at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had two sons, Steve (Tobi) of Katy, Texas and Chris of Lewiston, Idaho. He was very proud of his three granddaughters, Alicia and Emily Kramer of Rosenberg, Texas, and Michela (Austin) Jones of Lewiston, Idaho. He had one great-granddaughter, Wrenlee Sue Jones of Lewiston, Idaho.

Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, baseball, boxing and watched all sports on television.

In later years he enjoyed his “rides” around Center Point and Urbana. People remarked they could set their clocks by the time he drove by each day. He enjoyed looking for deer and wildlife.

Butch is also survived by a brother, Keith (Judy) Kramer of Urbana; sister, Kathy (Gary) Durow of Center Point; sisters-in-law, Terrie Kramer of Urbana, and Connie Waltermyer of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Dave Giebler of Hiawatha; along with many nieces and nephews.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane, and Mike; brothers-in-law, Loren Andrews, and Mike Waltermyer; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Kramer, and Colleen Giebler.
