Brian Benest, 45, of North Liberty passed away on Sept. 2, 2022, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

In honor of Brian’s life, a memorial gathering for friends and family will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3000 12th Ave., Coralville, Iowa, where a memorial service will begin at 6 p.m.

He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Jessilyn Benest, and their three children, Finn Michael (17), Lucille Caroline (12) and Sally Rose (6), all of North Liberty, Iowa; brother, Scott Benest of Marion, Iowa; stepsister, Sue (Steve) Kirk; stepbrother, Dave (Carla) Mulneaux; father- and mother- -in-law. Michael and Sara Heckart of Coralville, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Drew (Elizabeth) Heckart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jay (Kelly) Heckart of Coralville, Iowa; and a niece, Cecilia Jane.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Mark Benest and Pamela (Chase) Benest; brother, Willie; stepmother, Marlene Benest; and his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to his family to be put in an educational fund for his children.
