Bobby Leonard Moser

Bobby “Bob” Leonard Moser, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on May 4th, 2021. He was born on December 28, 1935, at the family home in Matthews, NC because the roads were impassable due to a snowstorm that evening. His father Roy was a diesel truck mechanic and excellent fisherman, and his mother Ruth was the world’s best cook. His parents retired to Calabash, NC. When Bob was 18 months old, he was diagnosed with polio. For the rest of his life, he battled with the effects but never let the handicap slow him down.
Bob graduated from the University of Georgia in 1959, where he was an integral part of the golf team’s success. He was honored to be chosen as the team captain in his senior year of college. Bob won many collegiate golf tournaments, including the SEC individual championship, and was named to the NCAA All-American team. After college, Bob met his lovely wife, Cynthia in Warm Springs, Georgia, where they both were working at the time. After a whirlwind romance, they married in Charleston, West Virginia in 1961, and had two children, Steve and Mary Ann. Bob and Cynthia were married for 60 wonderful years.

Bob was a golf pro at many prestigious country clubs, including Echo Lake in New Jersey, The Everglades Club in Palm Beach, and DeBordieu in Pawleys Island. He was fortunate to play many of the best golf courses in America, including his favorite Augusta National. Throughout his life he had continued competitive success winning numerous local golf tournaments, and was fortunate to spend 41 years doing what he loved best – being a golf pro. Later in life, he switched careers and became a successful Realtor in the western NC area, another job that he thoroughly enjoyed.

As Cynthia’s mother “Mo” grew older, Bob doted on her constantly and helped to make her golden years in Myrtle Beach, SC special. Bob also loved to trout fish in the beautiful North Carolina mountain streams, had a lifelong passion for trailer camping in state and national parks across the country, played a mean game of doubles tennis with his wife, and also devoted his time making great memories with his family at the beach and in the mountains.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cynthia; their two children, Steve Moser of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Mary Ann Cronley of Atlanta, GA, and his four granddaughters,
Angela Kitchin of New Bern, NC, Taylor Moser of Gulfport, FL, Charlotte Cronley of Atlanta, GA; and Camille Cronley of Atlanta, GA.
A family memorial was held on May 8th at Trinity Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
