Billy Gene Phillips

Billy Gene Phillips was born August 16, 1941, in Drumright, Oklahoma “or his mom would say the 17th” and passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 80.

Billy was in the Navy in 1958, stationed on the U.S.S. Shangri-La. He moved from Oklahoma to California in 1968 where he met the love of his life. Bill and Johnnie got married August 22, 1970, at Silver Bell Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. They then became a family of three with the addition of his son Lance Phillips from his previous marriage. In 1973 along came Stacy his little princess. Soon after Bill started working for LA County and retired as a bridge inspector 31 years later. Then they moved to Granbury, Texas following his retirement. Family followed to Granbury in 1999 where he made many friends and added grandkids and great grandkids to their family. Johnnie and Bill enjoyed retirement, traveling, karaoke and most of all dancing the night away, sitting on the back porch having some drinks and visiting with friends and family. Bill and Johnnie became members of Triple Cross Cowboy Church 15 years ago. Bill loved his family; he was the man that was always there for them no I matter what. He will be missed by all his family and friends. Bill never met a stranger. He was loved by many.

 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Bert Phillips, and Gladys Phillips; brother, Tom Phillips; son, Lance Phillips; nephew, Mark Davis; cousin, Doug Fine.

 

Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Johnnie Phillips; daughter, Stacy Lawrence; son, Aqeel Chouhan; granddaughters, Alysha Reed husband Michael Reed, Felicia Montez Spouse Billy Mata, Abbygail Chauhan; grandsons, David Chauhan, and Connor Phillips; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Paytton Hambrick, Lexi Martin, Paisley Reed, Cash Mata, and Maddi Reed; sister-in-law, Arleen, and Mike Barnett and many nieces and nephews.
