Betty Jane Welch, 97, beloved mother and grandmother of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on Sunday evening, December 25, 2022, in Granbury, Texas.
A committal service celebrating her life will be held at 2:30 P.M., on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
Betty was born on December 8, 1925, in Haynesville, Louisiana to Jules and Mary Hardy. She married James D. Welch, Sr., and together had three children, James, Jr., Jordan, and Molly. Betty and her husband were founding members of the Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Additionally, she was a long-time member of the Grand Prairie Optimist Club. She enjoyed cooking, taking cruises, and playing Bridge. Most of all, Betty will be remembered for the love and devotion she had for her family.
Betty leaves behind her children, James and wife Dianna Welch, Jordan and wife Jonelta and Molly and husband Charles Kitch; her grandchildren, Tim Welch, Jami Bicknell, Susan Bishop, Torre Shumate, and Todd Shumate; her great-grandchildren, Emily, James, and Ethan Bishop, Allison and Kaylee Bicknell, and Connor Shumate; and by God daughter, Alice Soudelier.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Welch, Sr.; and by her sister, Ethel Melacon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
