Betty J. Liedtke

Betty J. (Howes) Liedtke, 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in her home on January 22, 2022.

A daughter of the late Floyd and Florence (Dayton) Howes, Betty was born September 26, 1935 at Duncan Wood, Ohio in Harrison County.

She was married to Max R. Liedtke, Sr. on December 2, 1958. Max and Betty were married for 40 years prior to his passing on February 13, 1998. She was a home maker and enjoyed taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Betty was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Oldtown Valley and was a member of the WOTC.

Survivors include her children, Max (Terri) Liedtke, Jr, Mike (Lea) Liedtke, and Dave (Mary) Liedtke, all of New Philadelphia, Pam (Ed) Bleininger of Stone Creek, and Cheryl Liedtke of Dover; grandchildren, Nathan Bloom, Stevie (Leslie) Bloom, Jeannie Hughes, Megan (Derick) Hodkinson, Shaun (Michelle) Liedtke, Joel Liedtke, Nicole (Kevin) Stein, and Andy Bleininger; siblings, Ronald Howes, Chuck Howes, Floyd Howes Jr, Carol Stonebreaker, Mildred Murray; brother and sisters-in-law, Don (Norma) Liedtke and Charlette (Burt) Durr; and great-grandchildren, De Sean Liedtke, Hailey and Landon Hodkinson, Landan, Zachery, Daniel, Asia Bloom, Kylie and Kody Stein, Kaylie and Lennox Liedtke, and Sophia, Linkon, and Caysen Liedtke.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and Kenneth; sister, Shirley Bomboris; sister-in-law, Norma Liedtke; and brother-in-law, Burt Durr; and half-siblings, Richard and Harry Howes and Helen Gibson.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Pastor Randy Stull will officiate a service in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Garden at Dover. Friends and family are invited to the St. Peters Lutheran Church following the burial where a luncheon will be served by Betty’s church family.
