Bernice Grundmeyer, 92, a long-time resident of Lamont, passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2022.

Bernice Klein was born on Dec. 29, 1929, on her family’s farm near Raeville, Neb., to Alphonse and Frances (Bueltel) Klein. She married Willis Grundmeyer in Raeville on Feb. 14, 1950, and moved to Northeast Iowa, where they farmed all their lives.

Bernice is survived by seven children, Les (Chris) Grundmeyer of Aurora, Valerie Firth of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Alan (Kelly) Grundmeyer of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Vicki Hurd of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gale Ghaffari of Apple Valley, Minn., Ann (Jon) Bevan of Kansas City, Mo., and Adele Grundmeyer of Lakeville, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, in 2013; son, Dean, in 2014; grandson, Tom, in 2020; great-grandson, Lincoln, in 2018; great-grandson, Oakley, in 2021; her parents, Alphonse and Frances Klein; her parents-in-law, Anton and Dorothy Grundmeyer; six brothers and sisters; and numerous in-laws.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa, with the Rev. John Haugen presiding.

Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, followed by a 7 p.m. rosary. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Interment: St. Albert’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Lamont, Iowa.
