Bernard “Bernie” Hickey
Of Fontana
Beloved Abbey Springs Yacht Club drummer Bernard “Bernie” Hickey (age 87) hung up
his drum sticks and joined his beloved wife Eileen, his parents Bernard and Marie, his
granddaughter Kristen and his brothers John, Bill and Tim in heaven on September 2
2022. Bernie passed away in the Abbey Springs home he built and loved, after building
a successful career in the construction industry and a loving marriage with his childhood
sweetheart Eileen, whom he met in kindergarten. He valued and respected everyone
who worked for him, crediting them with his success. After retirement, when he wasn’t
acing through the golf course, Bernie was known for his “unique” grandfatherly advice
at the dinner table and his quiet generosity toward those in need.
He is survived by his children Maureen (Juan) Orts, Colleen (John Allen) Hickey and Shawn (Jeanne) Hickey;
grandchildren Nicole (Nick) Espindola and Ryan Hickey; great Grandchild
Risa Espindola; and sister Mary Bymes.
