Barbara A. Karl
Barbara A. Karl, 88 of Mineral City, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in her home following a period of declining health under the care of Community Hospice.
Born in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Bertha J. (Reidle) Bird and a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Barbara had formerly worked as a seamstress for Snyder Manufacturing at Dover but will be fondly remembered by her family as someone that made their house a home.
She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia and enjoyed sewing, reading, and volunteering at the library. In her spare time, she loved working jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books but most of all, she loved being with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
On July 11, 1955, Barbara married William F. “Bill” Karl and together they shared over 49 years of marriage before his passing in September 2004. Surviving are their four children, Bill (Patti) Karl of New Philadelphia, Vicki (Mark) Milburn of Fredericksburg, Randy (Cathy) Karl of Mineral City and Joanna (Brent) Myers of Radcliffe, Iowa; grandchildren, Heather (Anthony) Rabung, Emily Milburn, Stephanie and Hannah Myers, Julia (Logan) Watkins, Samantha Karl and Christian (fiancé Allison Shaw) Engle; great-grandchildren, Kadin, Makenzie, Adalynn, Keira, Emmett and Ellie and her sister, Sandy Beans.
In addition to her parents and her husband, numerous siblings have also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM in the church foyer prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
