Annette  Karen McFadden

Annette Karen (Sanders) McFadden was born on September 17, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Richard Ford and Lillian I. (Sanders) Johnson. She is the second of five children.
In the 1950’s the family relocated to Cleveland, OH where she was educated in the Cleveland Public School system. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was active at Hatcher’s Chapel AME Church until its closing. Then later joined Imani Temple.
“Karen”, as she was affectionately called, was married to her first husband John T. Rose Sr. and to that union four children were born: three boys and one girl. She later found the love of her life Holsie McFadden. To this union a daughter was born. They were members of the Smokie City Rose Bowl CB Club which kept them busy with entertaining and traveling! This was one of their favorite things to do together. She was always referred to as: Lady Arkansas Traveler. Because of her kind spirit, she always found herself working in positions that involved customer service. She worked at various companies throughout the city including Richmond Brothers, Woolworth, Dallas Shoe Warehouse and later retired from Wal-Mart.
Karen lived a joyful life and enjoyed watching her Pittsburgh Steelers, Soap Operas, and The Olympics (most notably: gymnastics and ice skating). She loved crime shows and her favorite hobbies were traveling, shopping, and playing card games with her friends at her apartment. She was an avid reader. She would often walk to the local library to get books, especially by her favorite author, James Patterson. When she wasn’t reading, she loved crossword puzzles, and enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
She is preceded in death by her parents Richard Ford and Lillian I. Johnson, husband Holsie McFadden, three sons John T. Rose II, Kenneth E. Rose, and David R. Rose, and one sister Laverene Bell.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Regina R. Rose and Hosezanna S. McFadden-Mitchell; son-in-law Everette R. Mitchell Jr.; seven grandchildren Jovan (Shekema) Davis, Selina Rose, Vedez Gilcrease, John T. Rose-Malone III, Shnae’ Rose, Everette R. III, Everen, and Everionna Mitchell all of Cleveland, OH; Joron Rose of Maryland; Jhnae’ Rose of Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers James, Milton (Priscilla) Johnson of Cleveland, OH and Larry (Sylvia) Johnson of Oregon; Sister-in-law Ruth (Edgar) Perry Cleveland Heights, OH and a host of nieces, nephews and adopted children.
