Andy Lucas

Andy Lucas was born to Weldon “Buddy” Lucas and Valerie Forrester Lucas on May 15, 1972 in Dallas, Texas and passed away on January 28, 2022 at Harris Methodist Hospitalin Fort Worth, Texas as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Andy was a standout athlete at Richardson High School, excelling in football and baseball. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Southwest Texas State University and his law degree from Baylor University. He and his bride, Teri Shannan Lucas, were marriedon April 13, 2013, at their home in Glen Rose, Texas. Andy loved his little piece of the country in Somervell County and spent much of his free time outdoors.

Andy was elected and sworn in as the Somervell County Attorney in 2013. He was a steward of justice and proud public servant, taking his role of prosecutor to heart and striving to uphold the law and veracity in the courtroom. Prior to his service to the County, he served the City of Glen Rose as defense attorney. He was an advocate for children and sought to help everyone who walked in his office. In addition to his professional service, Andy was a member of the Glen Rose Lions Club since 2004, serving as its President in 2016-2017.

Andy was a wordsmith, witty, loved history and trivia. Road trips with Andy included quizzes on city populations, famous persons birthplaces, and many other interesting tidbitsthat he carried at the ready. He was an excellent writer and took any opportunity to pen letters and cards to friends and family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, supportive brother, loyal son, and a good and faithful servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Andrew will be greatly missed and is survived by his mother, Valerie Forrester Lucas of Fort Worth, Texas; wife, Teri Shannan Lucas of Glen Rose, Texas; children, Hailee Medwedeff and husband Michael and grandson Michael Andrew of Friendswood, Texas and Emily Herring of Glen Rose, Texas; brother, Jeff Lucas and wife, Anya, of Gun Barrel City, Texas and their children Lauren Amos and husband Karter, and Grace Lucas; sister Jill Giddens and husband Brady of Dallas and their children Tate, Grey and Reese Giddens. Andy is preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service, officiated by Dr. Rick Lineberger of Glen Rose First Baptist Church at 2:00PM on February 19th, 2022 at FBC Glen Rose. The service will be live streamed and viewable online for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local charity or First Baptist Church Glen Rose.
