Andrew Lee “Jug” Thompson, 73, of Mansfield, Ohio passed this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Andrew was born in Canton, Mississippi on July 3, 1947 to the late Ulysses and Lucille (Trader) Thompson. He moved to Mansfield, Ohio at an early age.

Andrew attended Mansfield City Schools. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed at the City of Mansfield prior to an illness. Andrew was an avid sports fan and anyone who knows him, knew his love for his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns.

Andrew is survived by his companion and caregiver, Gloria Taylor; three sons, Gerald Nixon of Mansfield, Andrew Bronson of Atlanta and Jeff Young of Columbus; six daughters, Lashonna Bronson, Andrea Young, Tesheeka Thompson, Juan Gamble, Vivian Young all of Mansfield and Tammy Stegall of Akron; two sisters, Brenda Lindsay and Daisy Dudley both of Mansfield; brother, Wallace (Debbie) Thompson of Columbus; Sandra Thompson of Columbus; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jermaine David Bronson; grandson, Kevon Matthews; brother, Willie Thompson; and sister, Ada Walker.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902. A service will follow thereafter beginning at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Cobb officiating and Pastor Lamont Lindsay will deliver the eulogy.
