Andrew L. Ruff

Andrew L. Ruff, age 94, of Palatine, IL. Beloved husband of the late Ruth M. Ruff, nee Schiferl, for 70 years. Loving father of Suzanne (Vincent) Turnquist, Lawrence (Patricia) Ruff, Mary Kay Endre, Lori (Christopher) York and the late Daniel (Karen) Ruff. Cherished grandfather of Bryan, Genevieve, David, Timothy, Andrea, Stephanie, Michelle, Ashley, Andrew and Sarah. Proud great grandfather of seventeen. Dear brother of Albert Ruff, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Andy attended St. Patrick’s Academy in Des Plaines. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the Army where he served two years. He then attended DePaul University to get his undergraduate degree in accounting after being honorably discharged from the Army. Years later, he attended the University of Chicago for his MBA.
Andy had a long and gratifying career at Borg-Warner in Chicago, retiring after many years. He was a proud and active 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Ghost Council in Palatine. He enjoyed playing the organ for many years at Our Lady of the Wayside and St. Thomas of Villanova masses. He loved to play golf, fish and travel. Like Ruth, he was an avid bridge player, and provided much humor to all. Most of all, he loved Ruth, being with family, and attending mass at church with our Lord.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 8:30AM to 9:45AM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067.
