Alvin “Al” Leo Watkins

Alvin “Al” Leo Watkins, 89, of Springfield, IL passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab. He was born December 11, 1931 in Springfield to Benjamin L. and Sarah E. Cook Watkins.

Alvin was a graduate of Feitshans High School and was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving as a Sergeant in the Korean War from December 13, 1949 – March 7, 1953. He worked as an electrician and retired from IBEW Local 193 in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Benjamin, Bill, Eugene, Warren, Marvin, James, Lena Rychel, and Ella Watkins.

He is survived by his two children, Alvin. L. Watkins, Jr. (Devona) of Pleasant Plains and Connie (Cate) Watkins of Springfield. He has two grandsons Devin (Randa) Watkins of Ashland and Tyler Watkins of Pleasant Plains.

Private family services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
