Allen “Eli” H. Brewer

Allen “Eli” H. Brewer, 91, of Springfield, died at 12:16 am, Monday, October 11, 2021 at Villa Health Care West in Sherman, IL.  He was born August 21, 1930 in Chapin, IL to Deneen George and Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Hall) Brewer.  He married Dorilee Hardy on August 15, 1954 and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2009.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly McGee and sister, Barbara Gasche.

He is survivied by a son, Dean Brewer (Missy Stewart) of Springfield; six grandchildren, Matthew (Abbie) Brewer, Andrew (Jessica) Brewer, Michael (Jessica) McGee, Daniel (Courtney) McGee, Christopher (Samantha) McGee, and Elizabeth (Matthew) Powers; twelve great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Mark) Doro of Jacksonville, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Allen retired from HOBBS Manufacturing after twenty years of service and had previously worked at Sangamo Electric.

Allen was a member of the Southern View Chapel, Blue Ridge Club, VFW, Illinois Police Association, and Greater Springfield Bowling Association Board of Directors.  He was a former Khoury League baseball coach and an assistant football coach at SHG. Allen had also worked security at Springfield Speedway, and was a previous Captain for the Sangamon County Sheriffs Patrol.  He had also volunteered on the Interveterans Burial Detail for many years.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Friday, October 15, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Gary Gilley officiating and military honors being conducted.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of donors choice.
