Alice Ann Gallagher, 86, Tipton, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Graveside committal services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, where she will be buried with her husband and daughter. Alice Ann’s life journey began on Sept. 30, 1935, in Tipton, Iowa, where she was born to Charles and Ethel (Goodale) Bolton. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1953. She attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon before completing her studies at the University of Iowa, graduating with a B.A. degree in education. Alice Ann would then go on to teach in Clarence school system where she spent 20 years teaching middle school language arts. After retiring from teaching, Alice Ann enjoyed traveling abroad and around the country with her husband and joined him in owning and operating the Gallagher Insurance Agency in Tipton. Alice Ann was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Alice Ann had a gift and passion for music, whether it was performing, teaching or playing the piano, she found great joy from music. She was also the choir director at the United Methodist church in Tipton for nearly 30 years, a position that offered a chance to pursue her passion of music, something that she truly missed. She also enjoyed time gardening, collecting and selling depression glass with her husband as they travelled around Iowa to various shows to display and sell their collectables.

Alice Ann is survived by daughter, Lynn Gallagher of Iowa City, Iowa; sons, Tim Gallagher of Minneapolis, Minn., and Terry (Sharon) Gallagher of Watertown, Minn.; sister, Phyllis Baker of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Rachel (Ivan) Lopez Cortes; and a great-granddaughter.

Alice Ann was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Lisa and her parents.
